Faithful to the call

“They were furious with Jeremiah and had him flogged and imprisoned in the house of Jonathan the secretary. Jonathan’s house had been converted into a prison. Jeremiah was put into a dungeon cell, where he remained for many days.

Jeremiah 37:15-16 NLT

Jeremiah had many reasons to abandon God, to feel bitter, to be disappointed to serve the Lord.

Virtually all his ministry was an avalanche of calamities, one after another; and perhaps at some point thought that to have accepted the call to be a prophet, was the worst decision that he made on his life.

But Jeremiah did not react in this way, on the contrary, even suffering all manner of abuse, contempt, humiliation and slander he was unwavering, and he did not adjust his message in order to be released from prison and stop suffering.

Jeremiah remained faithful to God and to the message he was entrusted to preach.
