Jesus said, “This is how you should pray: “Father, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. Give us each day the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation.”
Luke 11:2-4 NLT
Prayer should not be a mechanical or repetitive action that we do by routine. Pray according to the model of Jesus, is the action and attitude of recognizing who God is, what He does in our lives and what He let us do.
Pray is to recognize that God is our Father, who is Holy One, and that we want Him to be the Lord and Ruler of our life. When we pray we also recognize that God is our provider and we can ask Him what we need.
Prayer helps us to recognize that God forgives our sins, which also involves recognize our need for forgiveness and our willingness to forgive. When we pray we acknowledge our weakness, so likewise recognize that only He can deliver us from yielding to temptation.
