“The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.”
Nahum 1:7 NLT
Nahum describes three characteristics of God:
He is good. From God cannot proceed anything bad, that’s why when we say, “why God allows bad things happen to me”, it is actually a meaningless phrase because does not match with the inherent goodness of God.
He is strong refuge. We must be aware that the difficulties in life will always come, but God is our shelter for these moments. We are not alone in the difficulties; in God we can have peace in the midst of the storm.
He is close. Many wonder, where is God when I need it? Where is God when trouble comes to my life? However, we must ask ourselves is, do I trust God? I surrender my anguish and suffering to God? The person who trusts in God can rest easy even in the toughest situations, knowing that he is not alone, recognizes that God is on his side.
It is the good God who describes Nahum, in which you already entrusted and take refuge?
