Worship

“Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus.

Revelation 19:10 NLT

No matter how extraordinary is the servant of God, we must never worship him. Only God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit deserves our worship.

The Royal Spanish Academy’s dictionary defines worship as “revere with great honor and respect to a being, considering it as a divine thing.” They also say that worship is “Loving with extreme” or “Liking something extremely.”

When you love someone or something to the point of “deify it”; when someone or something likes us so that occupies the center in our lives; or when we believe that what someone says, thinks or does is irrefutable or infallible, in spite of going against biblical principles, then we are worshiping him/her.

It is very easy to fall into the deception of worshiping things or people and it is easier when these are “good things” or are “good people.”

But it’s also easy to fall into the deception of “receiving” worship, this is when we are not clear that we are only servants of God and we want to play the role of “lords”. It sounds paradoxical, but today in many cases the word “servant” is synonymous of “sir” or “grandeur”, maybe this cause the confusion of many that they should “worship the servants of God.”

God is radical regarding that He is the only one worthy of all worship; to God it is not negotiable. Therefore, Worship only God!
