Only for gratitude
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.”
Romans 12:1 NLT
Have you ever wondered, Why God asks us to give Him everything? Why does God not require unless that our whole life, this is the body, thoughts, emotions and spirit?
The truth is that the idea of dividing our being, body and soul, or body, soul and spirit is more human than divine, God created us and sees us as being unique and inseparable.
Throughout the Bible we find the invitation to serve and worship Him with our whole being; and the fact of asking us to love Him with our heart, soul, mind and strength is only to emphasize that God does not expect us to give less than all our lives.
But the question is still raised, why? And Paul’s answer is simple: “gratitude” thanks him for what He has done in our lives, that is, for saving us.
Giving God all our life is the most sublime way of worshiping Him; our life offered to honor and serve the Lord is a worthy sacrifice for the King of kings and Lord of lords.
