“Fear and trembling overwhelm me, and I can’t stop shaking. Oh, that I had wings like a dove; then I would fly away and rest! I would fly far away to the quiet of the wilderness.”
Psalms 55:5-7 NLT
Freud catalogued as a defense mechanism and called it evasion. It is the natural and unconscious tendency of people to avoid or try to run away from anything that causes them pain or distress.
However, avoidance is not an appropriate way to address the problems, not provide a real solution, only hides or disguises what overwhelms us, and when we become aware that we are avoiding something, the defense mechanism loses its effectiveness.
Another evasion problem is that dumps us to ostracism, makes us believe that isolating us from all or from everybody, we can solve what overwhelms us or free us from those who cause us harm.
But running away is not the solution, isolate us or absorbed in ourselves, will not make our problems become solved, the best way to overcome fear, no longer overwhelmed and stop shaking, is cope with anything that causes the difficulties that we face.
But a warning, we never dare to do this alone, we need to be sure to have Jesus’ company, that He be who will go ahead us, providing us real and permanent solutions; do not forget His promise, that only He will make us more than conquerors.
