Horoscope 2014

“Do not act like the other nations, who try to read their future in the stars. Do not be afraid of their predictions, even though other nations are terrified by them.

Jeremiah 10:2 NLT

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines Horoscope as the “advice and future predictions based on the date of a person’s birth and the positions of the stars and planets.”

These days many people run back and forth trying to know what the future holds them; and there are no few who are naively fleeced by charlatans.

But why many people prefer to rely on “the stars” rather than believe in the stars’ creator? (Genesis 1:16); I think that the answer is because it is easier to pay someone to tell us what we want to hear, instead of changing our behavior and allow God to shape our lives to give us the future what He desires for our lives, good and not evil.

But we must be careful, because there are other types of predictions which can be easy prey also, making us fearful for the future: the economists predictions are not encouraging; sociologists predict us an alarming social decomposition; environmentalists predict us a global disaster due climate change; only the politicians predict us a better world, the problem is that nobody believes to them.

Jesus’ advice was to live one day at a time and not be distressed for the future that has not arrived yet. Living one day at a time seeking the kingdom of God and his righteousness, prepares us to face the future with hopefulness, knowing that our security lies not in the circumstances, and those could be positive or negative, we can sleep in peace because is God who will keep us safe.
