There is love in His anger
“Give glory to the Lord your God before it is too late. Acknowledge him before he brings darkness upon you, causing you to stumble and fall on the darkening mountains. For then, when you look for light, you will find only terrible darkness and gloom.”
Jeremiah 13:16 NLT
As we read this chapter we see an angry God; but to peruse its context, we note that God lays His anger in the love that He has for his people – seems somewhat contradictory, but it is not! –
God shows us His love when He warns us the consequences of not obeying Him; of being idolaters, and live a life of false obedience.
He demonstrates us His love to call us back to Him; to tell us directly, by example, or through the lives of His servants, the way that we should stop and the path along which we must move.
Finally, He shows us His love; by the patience that He has us, and when He speak us of punishment, do it with the purpose that we turn to Him, and not to destroy us.
