“But when Jesus said “this temple,” he meant his own body. After he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered he had said this, and they believed both the Scriptures and what Jesus had said.”
John 2:21-22 NLT
Three and a half years had passed since Jesus spoke of His own body likening the Temple, and until that moment His disciples believed.
And the thing is we can be following Jesus, to be learning from His teachings, and even seeing the miracles that He does in our lives and into others, but this does not necessarily mean that we already believe in Jesus.
Believing in Jesus to the extent that we can rely on Him, for some people can mean a process of years; if they are trying to do it through their own efforts.
We can only believe in Jesus, when we approach Him setting aside our prejudices and our own agenda; our confidence in Him will grow when we keep silence and begin to hear; we will believe totally, being able to give up our self-centered living, and we decide simply trust Jesus and His wonderful purpose for our lives.
