Why you follow Jesus?
“Jesus looked around and saw them following. “What do you want?” he asked them. They replied, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?” “Come and see,” he said. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon when they went with him to the place where he was staying, and they remained with him the rest of the day.”
John 1:38-39 NLT
They began to follow Jesus for curiosity, they didn’t want to find out “who” was He, they wanted to know “what” He had; perhaps they thought that this “new Teacher” could offer more than John the Baptist. Similarly today, many follow Jesus not to know Him, but to get something from Him
The interesting thing is that Jesus did not reject them, and no matter what could have been the real motivation, He invited them to know Him better. After that encounter their lives were never again the same.
Whenever we come to Jesus we will be challenged to know Him more deeply, to spend time with Him, and listen to Him; to talk Him about us, to share Him our hopes, our struggles and our dreams.
When we come to Jesus willingly and with a disposed heart to know Him, we will not be the same; Jesus gives meaning and purpose to our lives.
