A cure for insomnia

“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.

(Psalms 4:8 NTL)

This could be the favorite Bible verse for late risers! But we all have experienced the terrible effects of spending one or several nights without sleeping. However, Why we often cannot sleep when going to bed? This may be the result of a physical illness, such as having a disorder in our biological clock.

But the eagerness, anxiety, stress, worry, sadness, guilt, hopelessness are currently the most common causes for not being able to sleep peacefully. It is when we allow these emotions rule our lives that we can fall prey to insomnia, causing us not only making us feel tired, dazed and helpless, but without hope, without response, and it is not cured by a sleeping pill, but it is something that hides the problem, and does not solve it.

Fall asleep faster and sleep well, is a gift from God. But for sleeping well we must be calm, to be at peace with God and with one another, and only God can give us this peace. Remember, a pill will never replace the healing power of God’s forgiveness.
