What is the source of your happiness?
“You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.”
(Psalms 4:7 NTL)
What you base your happiness on? Many people base their happiness getting everything that brings them pleasure at physical, emotional, intellectual and religious level.
The problem arises when these pleasures satisfaction becomes the center of our lives, it makes us selfish; to meet the needs of our “ego” becomes our top, no matter many times that “looking for our happiness”, the people around us are unhappy.
This is compounded when justifying being happy, distorting and destroying our own life with the “excesses” that supposedly make us happy and we find only it become momentary satisfaction, and paradoxically by the end only makes us feel more and more sad.
But the psalmist invites us to seek true happiness in another source: in God. When we move toward to God, we put aside our “ego”, we’re not focusing on ourselves, therefore recognizing that happiness is not something that ourselves achieve or we can get satisfying our pleasures, we become “very happy” because our joy comes from the Lord.
Would you dare try to be happy in this way?
